About Us

SGA History

When Betty Herard De Soto saw the plight of some sectors of the population, their circumstantial struggle and inability to reach the most basic achievements in life through education due to financial needs, she was inspired and decided to act upon it.

Calling upon a group of friends who shared the same values, understood the vision and enthusiastically responded to the necessity to assist, support and encourage others, led to the foundation of the Sisterhood Guild of America in October 2015.

The organization is a not-for-profit, 501 c (3) formed exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, whose goal is to financially assist underserved students to finish their college education.

Since 2015 the Sisterhood Guild of America has consistently provided grants to Broward College and Miami-Dade College. We can proudly report that up to the year 2022, our grants have already benefited sixty (68) students in the pursuit of their goals.

Founder’s vision

The founder and president of the SGA is naturally predisposed to support others and facilitate their success. This sense of sharing and love to help others inspired her to motivate other women who understood her vision and establish this non-profit organization
